On Lumeria we have a system to upgrade your equipment (aside from Imbuements and Exaltation Forge).
The 3 power shards
There are 3 power shards which upgrade your equipment, the first one (the green) allows you to add a RANDOM upgrade to that equipment, the other 2 (blue and purple) allow you to UPGRADE AN EXISTING SLOT.
Each equipment has a determined amount of SLOTS, this is determined by: 1 + (Level Required/100) | For example, a Falcon Greaves will have 4 SLOTS as it requires level 300 (1 + (300/100) = 4).
When you use a shard for the first time on an equipment, it will be locked to your vocation forever (the bonuses, the item will still work for other vocations).
You can obtain the shards from the boss Kardas which appears all Saturdays, also on special events. 2 Bosses also appear on Thursday and Tuesday, prepare for them. The green shard is the most common one, the blue a rare one and the purple a very rare one, each one (in order) allowing to unlock a Tier.
Killing Kardas will grant you access to the energy taints. With this, you can loot shards from Archfoe Bosses, Influenced Monsters and Fiendish Monsters. You must select your taint with the NPC that assigns them at Cryheim.
